Our pedigree?

Either BITS, an IIT, or an IIM. It was just inevitable.

We have learnt this though, over 3 years of building Latency Donuts.

Curiosity matters. Passion matters. Hunger matters.
Schooling and gpa do not.
We like to think from first principles, which is how we ended up with this weird, non trendy, but eminently functional site.

Function over form for us any day please.

Front ends are boring.

We do everything else tech and data sciencey.

We help you generate data.

Move. Store.
Secure. Retrieve.
Analyze & visualize it

12 years of presenting latencies as donut charts will do that to you.

We now think eat sleep and visualize in terms of donuts.

Sometimes. We also drop in unannounced at your place of work with free donuts.

Only if you become a client

Want something done we havent listed here?

Like, say, a GIS data analytics project?

We'll do it for free.

Our development philosophy?

We charge for a Mercedes Benz because we give you a Mercedes Benz. Stable, reliable, scalable code, that is performant, elegant, and always works

SSH over PuTTY. CLI over GUI.

We dig deep, think, design, code & write from first principles,
avoid integrations.

Our own code, from the ground up.

Here's a smattering of technologies we've leveraged, things we've built for past projects

  • HTML, CSS, Javascript
  • SOAP, REST, GraphQL
  • Python

Steganography 101

We hid 100,000 characters from The Great Gatsby and a discount code into the pixel data for the image below.

Want to distract yourself from that midlife existential crisis?

Try clicking on the images below. Convince yourself both images are visually undifferentiated.

Then, click anywhere outside the section below to flip this card.

2022 March

First winner found. Receives a 12% discount. We are mortified it was so easy.

2022 August

2nd winner of the more convoluted steganography process found. Receives 20% off

2023 Mar

Marketing decides to up prize money to quarter of project value, no limits.

2025 Feb

First winner of new discount found. Discount awarded

2025 June

Second winner of new discount found. Discount awarded

Your mission, should you choose to accept it:
  • Click below to download the edited image.

  • Load the pixel data for the image with python to play around with it and discover the discount code.

  • Flatten the image and store it in a numpy array for fast pixel level ops.

  • Adjust for transparency, and try playing around with different encoding standards and steg techniques to discover the message.

  • Standardized tools like steghide etc wont help because we wrote a custom encoder for this.

Update - March '24:

We got carried away.

Its now slightly more difficult to find our discount code. So its not really Steg 101 any more.

As compensation, if you succeed, we will do your project for quarter off.

We guess we will do 5 such projects in toto.

What a selected panoply of our clients say about us
These guys love solving problems. We run some very old software for which OEM and vendor support has run out twice in the past, both times for critical services.

One was an outage for a gas recharge system, and the other for a building access control system. Both were diagnosed by this team, with zero support from the original vendors, with zero access to the system documentation. Working with them was painless. They did all the heavy lifting, pretty ran everything on autopilot, used me to unblock the system and processes when needed.

I love waking up to a simple "Sorted, BVS" in the morning from them.

Brigadier VS Saini
We're a shipping spare parts B2B retailer. Responding to leads used to take several hours, but LD brought this down to a second. I can receive whatever reports I want on my email, in telegram, on demand and regularly.

They helped me drive automation and digitization in our family business.

Abhi Marine Private Ltd
Not many come on as consultants, say no to our CEO, and survive. They did.

I like that I can pick up the phone and have a casual chat about tech and they understand where I am coming from, the bigger picture. They understand how tech works in tandem with strategy, marketing, analytics and product, which has made it easier for us to build better services.

They think in terms of cost, performance, compute, reliability etc, instead of trends and the latest flashy tech to come out of Silicon Valley.
We had a very slow site hosted on a major nocode platform, which couldnt handle the sudden spikes in demand from our promotions on Cred and Amazon.

LD shifted us to GCP servers, hardened them, optimized our backend code, brought down the front end package size by 58%, implemented analytics for us. We absolutely adore them.

I like working with them because I can bring LD's team into the board room with me. We work out detailed numbers, analyses and charts with them before I walk into my quarterly review, and I take one of their analysts along.

Their team knows how to handle a C level meeting.
We went through three vendors before we chanced upon Latency Donuts. They were able to build an image processing pipeline for us that digitized 30,000 patient prescriptions, without needing manual intervention.

Their code detected our paper prescriptions, deskewed, desaturated, cropped, allowing us to generate clinical grade digital images of our paper Rxs.

We are now working on digitizing all our ECGs and automating their interpretation.
Adding manpower to an already late software development project delays it further Software is eating the world. Will you eat or be eaten? The future of the human race is postbiological / transhuman There are 10 billion computers on the planet for 8.2 billion humans 1.5 billion people speak English. All 10 billion computers speak TCP/IP Learning how to code is like waking up someday and realizing you arent blind anymore There is always one more bug to fix, one more feature to enhance Its not a bug, its an undocumented feature Any sufficiently advanced bug is indistinguishable from a feature Software and cathedrals are much the same. First we build them, then we pray The first 90% of code accounts for the first 90% of development time The remaining 10% of the codebase accounts for the other 90% of development time
